Day Trips to Corolla

Corolla is the northernmost town on the Outer Banks and is filled with history, from the iconic Whalehead Club, to the Currituck Lighthouse, nature preserves and more. And you’re sure to catch a glimpse of the famous wild horses of Corolla, munching on sea oats and frolicking on the beach. You’ll also find eclectic locally-owned shops and plenty of gourmet food.

A little over a 2-hour drive from Hatteras, Corolla is a perfect day trip if you’re looking for a bit of history and southern charm.

The Currituck Beach Lighthouse

Built in 1875, this lighthouse is located 15 miles north of Duck in the village of Corolla. It is one of the only two lighthouses on the Outer Banks open for climbing.
