It was a perfect day for the Hatteras Village Christmas Parade this past Saturday, December 8, at 2pm. The weather was beautiful with sunny skies, and warmer temperatures than past parades. Islanders gathered along the streets of Hatteras Village to see the decorated floats, golf carts, boats, horses, and more. Children were delighted to see all the decorations, and Santa, of course, who was on top of the last ride, the Hatteras Fire Engine #1! Gathering as much candy as possible, all the children left with bags full of treats! With about 35 festive parade participants at this year’s event, there wasn’t a dull moment to be had! Following the parade, refreshments were served at the Hatteras Village Fire House while the winners were announced.

In the children’s division, the winners were The Munchkin Kids, the Girl Scouts, and the Cape Hatteras Secondary School middle-school cheerleaders.

In the adult division, the winners were April Webster and Terry Cartwright for most spirit with their golf carts enclosed as a Christmas cottage with the theme that “Christmas is Merrier under a Carolina Moon” and Midgett Realty for most comical with our nautical sleigh, pulled by eight brightly colored sea horses. Dune Billy Queens also took home an award for most creative with their “Miami or Bust” float.

It was a wonderful parade filled with lots of community spirit!
