Home Blog February on Hatteras Island

February on Hatteras Island, while peaceful and serene, was a bit of a weather roller coaster as temperatures danced from the 20’s to the 70’s and everywhere in between. Due to that 50 degree variance, some days were spent frolicking on the beach in flip flops, while others were spent bundled in Uggs and layers. Lots.of.layers.

As previously reported, we had a wildly unusual ice storm in January, and holding true to the craziness, Mother Nature also handed us a snow storm in early February! Nonetheless, Hatteras was just as beautiful in a blanket of white as she is on any other island day, and to see such a rare sight was quite the pleasure. Obviously, a “snow storm” on Hatteras Island is nothing like they experienced in central North Carolina and the rest of the East Coast. No gridlocks or States of Emergency. Just a heightened sense of nostalgia as we get snow once every few years. Maybe.

Finally, the month wrapped up with turquoise waters and blue skies, leaving us anxiously awaiting Spring’s arrival. Now, with a 17 day countdown in tow, we are hoping the colder days are behind us and the sunny days continue on!
