Nights in Rodanthe Now in Theaters!
The film Nights in Rodanthe, starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, tells the romantic story of the life-changing and healing power of love. Filmed on location in Rodanthe, North Carolina, Nights in Rodanthe received a helping hand from local residents and businesses throughout the production process. One such business, Midgett Realty, went above and beyond its typical duties as a rental property management company to serve as a much-needed liaison between the filmmakers and the community.
While scoping locations to film Nights in Rodanthe, the filmmakers came upon one particular house. It was perfect. The northernmost house in the village of Rodanthe, the aptly-named Serendipity provided the film crew with an unobstructed view of the ocean and beautiful scenes of open sandy beaches. Having found their ideal representation of the inn in the story, the filmmakers had only to secure permission to use the house.
Midgett Realty was quick to respond, and quickly became the filmmakers’ eyes and ears on the island. In addition to providing Serendipity as a prime filming location, Midgett Realty secured housing on the island for the cast and crew in their numerous well-appointed rental homes, saving them hours of travel to and from location. This proved to be a challenge to which Midgett Realty rose with vigor.
Nights in Rodanthe starred more than human actors. Several scenes called for a herd of horses to run past the camera. Before the horses were even brought to the island, Midgett Realty arranged a location for corralling the herd, just a short distance from where the scene was to be filmed.
Jenny Hooper, the manager of the Rodanthe office of Midgett Realty, even joked that they had provided a storm much like the one described in the novel after a vicious storm struck.
From providing lodging for the cast and crew to serving as a liaison into the Hatteras Island community, Midgett Realty was an instrumental asset to the filmmakers of Nights in Rodanthe. With the help, dedication, support, and hard work of Midgett Realty, Nights in Rodanthe became the beautiful and memorable film it is.
