Midgett Realty Serves As Annual Island-Wide Food Drive Drop-Off Location

The Annual Island-Wide Food Drive sponsored by the Hatteras Island Food Pantry in Buxton is now underway! Just as in years past, all three Midgett Realty offices will again serve as official drop-off locations!

While the HI Food Pantry takes donations year-round, this annual event is designated to help island residents make it through the tough winter months. Accepted donations are non-perishable food items (that are unopened and within their expiration date) such as canned goods, baking items, spices, and packaged goods that don’t require refrigeration, cat/dog food, toiletries, household goods such as laundry detergents, paper products, disposables, and more. Monetary donations are also welcome. Tax deductible, 100% of monies received goes to assist island residents. They can be submitted online at https://www.hatterasmethodistmen.org/, or checks can be written to United Methodist Men and mailed to them at PO Box 1591, Buxton, NC 27920.

If you’re interested in participating and are unsure of what to donate, consider pairing up items to create complete meals. For example, spaghetti sauce and pasta, peanut butter and jelly, canned tuna and mayo. Items that are typically in high demand are as follows:

• Canned Goods (Veggies, Fruits, Beans, Sauces, Soups)
• Dry Goods (Legumes, Grains, Pastas)
• Pantry Staples (Flour, Sugar, Oil)
• Cereals/Cereal Bars
• Instant Ramen Noodles
• Coffee
• Powder Coffee Creamer
• Laundry Detergent
• Dishwashing Detergent
• Shampoo/Conditioner
• Shaving Cream
• Deodorant
• Body Wash

Once you’ve gathered your donation, simply bring it to one of our office locations listed below. When our specified donation boxes are full, we work closely with the long-time volunteers (our designated pick-up persons have been volunteers for 23 years!) to arrange pick-up in order to create room for more donations.

Midgett Realty Office Locations (listed north to south):

Rodanthe Office:
23198 Highway 12
Rodanthe, NC 27968

Avon Office:
39432 Highway 12
Avon, NC 27915

Hatteras Office:
57783 Highway 12
Hatteras, NC 27943

Post-drive (which usually ends around the New Year), donation boxes are left out at each Midgett Realty office as we are year-round drop-off locations for the HI Food Pantry. The process is the same in regard to accepted donations, so should you have some extra non-perishables at check-out that didn’t happen to get used, feel free to drop by one of our offices to help an islander in need.
