The Hatteras Marlin Club, located on Cape Hatteras in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, sits just 18 miles from the Gulf Stream and its world-renowned fishing grounds. Nicknamed “Game Fish Junction,” this unique meeting of the cold Labrador currents and the warm Gulf Stream creates ideal conditions for all kinds of fishing. Seeing the potential for big-game angling, Charles F. Johnson, Earl Phillips, and Luther Hodges founded the Club in 1959, providing a private retreat where anglers from near and far could share their passion for the sport. Over the years, the Club has grown to offer a range of amenities, from secured dockage to fine dining.
The Club’s centerpiece is the Annual Invitational Blue Marlin Release Tournament, held each June. It’s a week-long celebration of fishing, fun, food, and camaraderie that draws enthusiasts from across the region.
Nestled in the village of Hatteras at the southern tip of the island chain, the Club is perfectly situated for guests who stay ashore. Visitors can explore local shops, enjoy sightseeing tours, hop on a ferry to neighboring islands, or simply relax on the island’s pristine beaches.
