Description

Get away to this lovely oceanside home tucked back in the trees near the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Marlin’s Retreat is a great little house you’ll want to return to again and again.

Gather together in the open living, dining, and kitchen area on the first floor. The tasteful décor and upscale appliances and furnishings will make you feel like a welcomed guest, and a Roku in the living area will provide hours of entertainment. A queen bedroom with TV on this floor opens to a semi-private bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower stall. The laundry area is also on this level, and opens onto the bathroom as well. Step out onto the partially shaded wraparound deck overlooking the freshwater pond in the back yard and enjoy a meal at the pergola-shaded picnic table.

Upstairs are two more bedrooms, a queen with TV and a double bedroom, which share a full bathroom off the hall. A futon in the loft overlooking the living area is perfect for afternoon naps or added flexibility in sleeping arrangements.

Outside, you can explore the maritime forest on trails by the lighthouse or visit local shops and restaurants.

Note: In the summer of 2022 the Avon and Buxton oceanfront will receive much needed beach nourishment. The Avon project begins 3,000 feet north of the Avon Pier at Due East Road to the southern boundary of Avon at the National Park Service line—approximately 2.5 miles of oceanfront.  The maintenance renourishment for Buxton includes 2.9 miles of shoreline from the Haulover Day Use Area north of Buxton to the oceanfront groin at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. You may experience some temporary construction noise, night illumination, and beach access diversions in the immediate vicinity of this rental for a short duration dependent upon changing project conditions. What is the distance to beach and sound?
Answer: 
This home is on the oceanside of Highway 12, and is an approximate 5-10 minute easy walk, which is almost completely paved. While a good majority of the sound side of Buxton is either residential or undeveloped, I think the closest public access would be just north of Buxton Village, less than a 5 minute drive. There is also a very nice access just north of that between Buxton and Avon Villages coined "Canadian Hole" that has ample parking, restrooms and stairs to the sound side. In that same location there is a crosswalk to the beach, so you could do both locations if some of your party wanted to go to the beach and some the sound.
