Mermaid's Rest 2019 rates will increase on March 1, 2019.

Catch up on some R & R at this comfortable oceanfront home in Buxton. With playful décor and plenty of upgrades throughout, Mermaid’s Rest offers easy beach access and unsurpassed views of the ocean from all levels.

All three tastefully decorated bedrooms, each with TV, are on the first level. The king master bedroom has access to the oceanfront deck with stairs to the private beach boardwalk, so you can wake up and have your feet in the sand in just moments. A queen bedroom and a bedroom with two single beds are also on this level, sharing a full bathroom.

Upstairs is the colorful living, dining, and kitchen area with windows all around so you never lose sight of the sea. Board games, puzzles, books, and movies ensure there is never a dull moment. Work on your tan on the wide oceanfront sundeck while sipping on a cool drink, or watch the light from the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse each evening. A half bathroom is also on this level.

Enjoy the spectacular view from the loft with TV and single bed with trundle, a great place to relax with a good book or just take some “you” time.

When you’re ready for sand between your toes, beach access is a breeze. Enjoy fresh local seafood at nearby restaurants or pick out the perfect souvenir at any of the shops in the area.

Question: I'm looking at local rentals. Does this property accept partial rentals (8/25-8/28)? If not, if no one rents the property in the next couple days, will the owner negotiate the weekly price?

This property does accept partial reservations and you are within the booking period. Just call the office and they will give you more information.

For the 2018 season this home does not offer a linens package, so outside of blankets and pillows, no linens are provided.

The Mermaid's Rest was beautiful. Literally on the beach! We vacationed with 4 small children under 8 and there was plenty of toys and games to keep them busy. Plenty of room for a large group. The private boardwalk over the dunes was priceless. The location was ideal for us, the beach wasn't too crowded and it was a very short ride to get to the food lion and restaurants. We are already planning our return to the OBX, thank you for having us!

Mermaid's Rest is amazing! If atmosphere and ambiance make a difference in enjoying your surroundings then this vacation home may be the one for you. It is decorated adorably. The home is literally right on the sand by the ocean. The first three days of our vacation it was exceedingly windy and we opened all the windows so we could feel and hear the wind all through the house. It was awesome. ....like being outside. The beds and pillows for the main two bedrooms are very comfortable. The twin beds felt of much lower quality even though we did not sleep on them as there were only two of us. The deck furniture is of high quality and the porch swing......let's just say I wish I could take it home! The views are quite astounding. Watching the surfers was a lot of fun and very impressive as the waves were huge. It was enjoyable watching the sunrise even though a bank of clouds seemed to reside on the horizon every morning and we found that if we walked down the beach towards Avon just a short jaunt after the houses come to an end on the Buxton beach, there is a great view of the sunset if you walk up the dunes. We absolutely loved our vacation home and our relaxing week at Mermaid's Rest in Buxton. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories we made!

The location of this house is amazing. Overall, the house is in great condition and more spacious than it appears in the photos. Gorgeous sunrises and warm bonfires made for wonderful family memories with the cousins getting together. If the swell had been bigger there would've been a few fun surf points right in front too. It was still fun with longboards, SUPs and kayaks.

There is pleanty of room to put your things - big and little things. Many, many rainy day activities at the house for all ages, especially books. A very sturdy house and wonderful decks.
