The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
One of the many attractions on Hatteras Island is the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, the nation's tallest lighthouse to date. In 1999 this historic beacon, in addition to six of it's sister structures, was moved 2,900 feet from where it had stood since 1870, directly in front the "First Jetty", one of the East Coast's famous surf breaks. Standing at 198.49 feet tall, guests can still climb the 257 steps to the top and catch the breathtaking view of Hatteras Island from the sky.
