As another year passes by, the seven villages of Hatteras Island came together on Saturday with a treasure trove of things to be thankful for. With over 30 entries in this year’s annual Hatteras Village Christmas Parade, islanders lined the streets in celebration and anticipation to see their friends, family and neighbors stroll by, swaddled in Christmas spirit. Children of all ages bounced around, filling their bags with the candy tossed from the island’s various floats, anxiously awaiting Santa as he spread Christmas cheer through the crowd while the notes of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” filled the air.
Every year 3 prizes are awarded and this year, Midgett Realty was honored to bring home the title of “Most Creative”. Midgett Realty donated all prize monies to the local Hatteras UMC Community Preschool. Following, the Friends of Felines took home the prize for “Most Comical” and CHSS High School Band was awarded “Most Community Spirit”. Organized by the Hatteras Village Civic Association, the Hatteras Village Christmas Parade is always a big to-do for Hatteras Island and this year proved no different, showing there is no shortage of spirit in this small coastal community.
