What's New On Hatteras

Hatteras Sol Waterside Grill on Hatteras IslandHatteras Sol Waterside Grill is one of the newer establishments in Hatteras Village…that is, of course, if you don’t include the years they ran the lovely little deli that once resided at Stowe on 12. Now perched upon the docks of Teach’s Lair Marina, I dare say it is a must-try when visiting Hatteras Island.

Partners Chris Setzer and Christy Davis have spent the past two years curating a crew of the island’s finest in a successful effort to create “a casually sophisticated dining experience” in Hatteras Village. You can enjoy a year-round front seat to the island’s world-renowned sunsets, and on warmer days you can enjoy it from their outdoor seating on the back deck.

Try the decadent Keylime Martini or a Hatteras Sol, and if you drop by for Sunday brunch, definitely don’t miss out on the Bloody Sol, their delicious take on the Bloody Mary, which wouldn’t be complete without a strip of bacon, of course!

Chef and culinary artist, Chris Setzer, has turned the island upside down with his version of island cuisine. The Shrimp & Grits, Tournedos of Beef & Shrimp Diavolo and Shrimp Carbonara, just to name a few, have been branded by Setzer’s keen twist on traditional seafood platters. Using fresh and homemade ingredients, it is clear that the Culinary Institute of America graduate has put his experience, knowledge-base and passion into his menu. The “Specials Board” is also regularly packed with creative appetizers and meals that will undoubtedly make your mouth water, so definitely don’t miss this little gem on your next trip to Hatteras Island!
