October 2023 is on pace to be the spookiest of the spookies with Friday the 13th happening TOMORROW, the Hunter’s Moon rising on October 20th and reaching peak illumination at 4:24 EST on Saturday, October 28th, and Halloween, of course, on October 31st! Eeek! Once you’ve had your fill of scary movies, get your screams in on Hatteras Island for a ghostly good time! We’ve put together the Top 5 Things to Do on Hatteras Island this Halloween that will definitely give you pumpkin to talk about!

1. Thursday, October 26th, 7-10pm | The Wreck’s Halloween Party

Head to Hatteras Landing and visit The Wreck Tiki Bar & Food for their 2023 Halloween Party! Home of the summertime Trivia Night, this crew knows all about some fun competition and will be hosting an electrifying costume contest WITH prizes! Enjoy live music featuring Your Mummy and a variety of handcrafted libations, including some spirited seasonal sips off of their fall drink list! Oh my Gourd!

2. Saturday, October 28th, 8-10pm| Witches in the Woods Haunted Trail

On Saturday, Oct 28th, test your fate as you walk through the woods with the witches on the Haunted Trail sponsored by Hatteras Village Civic Association. Cost is $5 per person. Those who dare brave the trail will meet at the Hatteras Village Community Building. From there you’ll be transported to the trail and returned to the Community Building afterwards. Or will you?

3. Saturday, October 28th | Tavern on 12’s Halloween Party

With live music by Rory Live and Brian Surratt and plenty of delicious spirits to go ‘round, come as you aren’t in your Spooky Szn best to get down at this annual Halloween party at Tavern on 12 in Frisco on Saturday, October 28th. Boo-yah!

4. Monday, October 30th, 6pm | Formal Masquerade Dinner

Join the folks at Café Pamlico for their Formal Masquerade Spirit Dinner on Monday, October 30th at 6pm. Offering a “hauntingly delicious” meal of 5 courses, each paired with a seasonal craft cocktail, this is one night you won’t want to miss. 5. Tuesday, Oct 31st, 5-7pm | Trunk or Treat

Head over to the Beach Klub at Koru Village in Avon for their annual Halloween community gathering. Every year they open their parking lot to provide a safe and central space for kiddos to trick or treat. Volunteer Trunkers are also needed, so grab some decorations and candy for your trunk and help make this Halloween special for the little ghosts and ghouls spending their Halloween on Hatteras Island. Open to the public, this event will take place on Tuesday, October 31st from 5-7pm.

6. BONUS EVENT | 12th Annual Pumpkin Patch at Island Farm

Located on Roanoke Island, this is a fun pre-arrival event for the whole family on your way to Hatteras Island. Taking place every Saturday in October from 9am-3pm, this public event will feature their Artist Market, locally grown pumpkins, historic games, wagon rides, doll crafting, candle making, free blacksmith shop giveaways and delicious snacks ranging from open-fire cooked popcorn, hearth-cooked corn cakes and apple cider. Admission for visitors aged four and older is $10. Children 0-3 years old are admitted for free.
