If you love horseback riding, then Equine Adventures has just what you need for your Hatteras Island adventure! Back in December 2012, a group of Midgett Realty employees took an afternoon group ride with Equine Adventures! The ride is absolutely beautiful and peaceful at that. The tour guides, Lacey and Jessica, were absolutely great! They took us through the North Carolina Coastal Reserve, through the Buxton Woods, the Maritime Forest and then over the dunes to the beach! The ride lasted about 2 hours, maybe a little more. We rode on the trail for about 45 minutes, and about 30 minutes along the oceans edge, and another 45 minutes back to the barn! Horsebackriding on the on the beach is an amazing sight. Some of the horses even like to get their toes wet in the water!
If you have never been horseback riding, don’t worry, riders of all experience levels are welcome. We had a few first timers on the ride, including myself, and I am ready to go back again! The horses were great, and our guides did a great job picking the horses that were just right for each of us and our skill level. I was a little nervous at first since I had never been around horses before, but after being on the horse not even 10 minutes, I was already totally comfortable and laughing with our group and really enjoying the ride!
