There are always family fun events going on during the week on Hatteras Island to please everyone in your group! Live music, art classes, fitness classes, water sport lessons & events, fishing tournaments and charter boat fishing trips, holiday gatherings, fish fries, history and educational programs, and the list goes on. So, if you are vacationing on Hatteras Island this week, June 3-9, 2013, be sure to check some of these great happenings!

The Triple-S Invitational will be held on Cape Hatteras on June 1-7, 2013! This event will be hosted by REAL Watersports in Waves and invites the world’s best kiteboarders to Cape Hatteras to compete in the unique competition that pushes the sport further each year. Come out and watch individuals compete in different areas of kiteboarding during the day, and enjoy parties and live music each night! So come out and meet and talk with the pros and learn about the sport of kiteboarding.

Come out and enjoy Open Mic at Hatteras Sol in Hatteras Village every Wednesday night for great local musicians jamming out for a night of fun. Bring your instruments and play along! Hatteras Sol is located at Stowe on Twelve.

Looking for some fun activities to do with the kids while on vacation? Look no further than Kitty Hawk Kids Day! Join Kitty Hawk Kites stores in Hatteras Village and Avon every Tuesday and in Waves every Wednesday for some great fun with the kids. Wednesday evenings everyone is welcome to come out to the Cape Hatteras Angler’s Club for a night for Bingo! The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club is located on Light Plant Road in Buxton, across the street from Conner’s Supermarket. Doors open at 6pm and the games begin at 7pm.

Every Wednesday night, come out and enjoy some great music at Hatteras Landing Marina in Hatteras Village from 6-9pm. Enjoy delicious food and a nice cold drink on the dock, watch the sunset, and listen to some great live music!

The Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station in Rodanthe will be presenting a few programs on June 5, 2013. Actual members of the Coast Guard crew that made the famous rescue of the HMS Bounty off of Cape Hatteras during Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29, 2012 will be presenting programs throughout the summer. Hear first hand the details of this amazing rescue. Photo ops and souvenirs available for purchase at their gift shop. This will be a part of Chicamacomico’s Summer Porch Program. The Oceanfront Beach Klub in Avon will be hosting a summer concert on June 6, 2013! Come out and join us for some great live music with Antero Reggae! Drinks will be available for purchase at the Beach Klub.

The 3rd Annual Sunset Swim Charity Runway Event will be held at REAL Watersports in Waves on June 6, beginning at 6:30pm! The fashion show will begin at 8:30pm with dancing and a raffle to follow. Local models will be walking down the runway in stylish swimwear and jewelry from local designers and boutiques. Enjoy live music and signature drinks! All money raised from the Sunset Swim Charity Event will directly benefit the program Athletes 4 Cancer’s Camp Koru Survivorship, where activities such as surfing, standup paddling, skiing and snowboarding are used as channels of growth and life-renewal. This event also raises awareness for cancer prevention.

The 14th Annual Ocrafolk Festival will be held June 7-9, 2013 on Ocracoke! This festival will feature new and returning artists, music, and storytelling. A great festival for all!

Every Saturday Beginning on June 1, 2013, enjoy the Hatteras Village & Avon Fish Fries! The weekly Fish Fries will be held at the Hatteras Village Fire Station in Hatteras and at the Avon Fire Station in Avon. From 5-7pm feast on locally caught fried fish, hush puppies, cole slaw, and potato salad! We hope to see you there.

Join us for the Fishing Tournament on the Miss Hatteras at Oden’s Dock in Hatteras Village on June 8, 2013! This full day fishing trip will leave from Oden’s Dock and will venture out to the Gulf Stream, where all participants will go bottom fishing! This is a family-friendly event recommended for children 12 years and up, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult. The 31st Annual Rogallo Kite Festival will be held on June 8th-9th at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, in Nags Head. This event is FREE TO THE PUBLIC! The Rogallo Kite Festival includes two days of kite flying, so come out and enjoy the great sights!
