Bird Brains! ecoEXPLORE Library Program | December 5th, 2019, 4:00 – 5:00 pm

 

Bird Brains! ecoEXPLORE Library Program: Ages 7+, 1 Hour. Join the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission for a FREE program about a new youth citizen science initiative expanding to coastal North Carolina, ecoEXPLORE! Come learn what makes birds so unique! We will cover how to identify the birds in your backyard and then put our new skills to the test in a bird walk outside. Learn More at www.ecoexplore.net.

 

Winter Lighthouse Climb | December 14th, 2019, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

 

Enjoy a winter view of Hatteras Island from the top of the light tower. All climbers are required to be at least 42 inches tall and must climb the steps on their own—they cannot be carried. Children 11 years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult (16 years of age or older). The climb is strenuous, the 257 steps to the top equal climbing a 12-story building.

 

Holidays On Hatteras | December 14th, 2019, 12:00 pm

 

Enjoy a day-long annual holiday event with children’s craft tables, live entertainment, and festive refreshments. Shoppers receive a 5% discount in the museum shop with a donation for the food bank. Free. Open to the Public. Sponsored by Friends of the Graveyard of the Atlantic and Hatteras Village Civic Association.

 

Hatteras Village Christmas Parade | December 14th, 2019, 2:00 pm

 

Join Hatteras Village for their traditional Christmas Parade. This is an old fashioned community parade with the local award winning school band, floats from local organizations and businesses, fire trucks, the United States Coast Guard, and many other colorful participants. After while are prizes are being awarded for various categories you can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies are served in the Fire House. It is a great adventure for adults and children. If you bring children make sure they bring a goodie bag for the candy and other prizes thrown to them from the parade participants.

 

Monthly Knitting Circle! | December 17th, 2019, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

 

Come join this community of ladies every second Tuesday of the month at Blue Pelican Gallery Gifts & Yarn from 10:30-12:00. Create your own art to wear clothing and accessories at our Knitting Circle. Beginners and advanced knitters and crocheters are welcome. Bring your projects that you are working on or start a new one. It’s a great time to start knitting/crocheting Christmas gifts.

*There is no charge for the Knitting Circle, this is a chance to sit and knit in a community setting among all the wonderful fibers at the Gallery.
