We are knocking on November's door, so the possibility of running into a day or two of unseasonably chilly weather while at the beach isn't completely unheard of. The good news? It'll be gone in a day or two and there will be no shoveling walkways and/or defrosting windshields, because again, who has time for all of that (our hearts go out to you, Northeastern US)?!

There are always fun and exciting activities to do/learn/try when you adventure down to Hatteras Island. It's the beach! People don't just come here year after year for the heck of it (but who could blame you if you did, amiright???).
Beginning at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 28, Dare County will lift the evacuation order allowing visitors back onto Hatteras Island.
The latest from Dare County:
"The next update regarding reentry for visitors to Hatteras Island will be issued no later than 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 28 following a meeting of the Dare County Control Group."
As Hurricane Maria moves closer to Dare County, winds will reach tropical force later today and remain through early Thursday. Extended periods of high winds will lead to ocean overwash and soundside flooding.
